More Heel-Less Pumps...

Well since I'm on a roll after mentioning Natacha Marro's red glittering heel-less pumps, I coincidentally ran into more photos of heel-less pumps at trendhunter.com. These shoes will amaze you, as they did me. Only because this isn't something you see everyday on a woman's feet. Now these shoes were spotted quite a bit in 2009 runways shows, but the question is now 'Are they for show or will a profit be made?' Nina Ricci showed some pretty incredible (but almost scary) 11" "stilts" in her Fall 2009 runway shoe. The idea obviously worked considering no one got hurt. This is what New York magazine said about the shoes:

“Take a look at the heel-less, stilt-like shoes at Nina Ricci. Fabulously creative, right? The sky-high height combines platform and stilettos, adding about eleven inches to the already leggy models. And the careful detailing makes them even more distinctive (not that the shoes need it) — some feature laces, buckles, rhinestones, and satin. From what we can tell, not one model fell, which proves the theory that heel-less shoes are easy to walk in. Now that’s the power of platforms. And gravity"

 

  

  

             

Natacha Marro Heel-Less Pumps

I ran across some great editorials at trendhunter with a couple being based off of heel-less pumps. The articles were more or so about a year ago, but intrigued me so much I thought it was inevitable to put up. So here you go...now these shoes are easily reminiscent of The Wizard Of Oz, but with a funky twist. They are definitely higher....and with no heel. This brilliant creation was created by Natacha Marro, and to add to the mystique of the shoe, there are only 10 that will exist available only on 20ltd.com.  Besides Alexander McQueen's 2010 Spring shoes, these shoes definitely are one of the most innovative I have seen. Kudos to Natacha Marro!

 

  

  

 

Vans 2011 AWT Collection

Many footwear companies have already produced upcoming lines way ahead of schedule. Vans are definitely not too far behind. Vans is already giving us a preview into the company’s 2011 AWT Collection from it’s Snow division offering three models: Chuikka Low, Mountain Edition, and a newly developed Switchback. All have a similar colorway with a variety of technical details including 3m Scotchguard infused premium leather, fully gusseted tongue to keep out moisture and debris, thick water repelling shoe laces, and an inverted waffle sole for superior traction.

Alexander McQueen...Spring 2010

“Sea creatures” is what Alexander McQueen’s notorious shoes for Spring 2010 is described as. Standing at 10 inches tall, even models Abby Kershaw and Sasha Pivovarova refused to walk in the show showing concern from these ferociously, damn near neck-breaking shoes. McQueen showed his version of Waterworld with mankind as alien-like beings required to evolve and adapt in the sea as the polar caps have melted. Clothing was seen in reptilian prints and sequins were utilized to mimic fish scales. Heels were notoriously high resembling skeletor like features and featured curved booties designed for the animalistic and obviously daring.

V Magazine Celebrates You For Who You Are!

“Tall, Short, Curvy, Punk, Prep, Dom, Deb. Whoever you are, and whoever you want to be, we’re with you all the way” declared in V Magazine’s “V LOVES U JUST THE WAY U R” editorial. This obviously showed In V Magazine’s “The Size Issue” reaching out to everything but the “norm” in today’s society. Photographed by Terry Tsiolis and styled by Jay Massacret, many exquisite photos were taken to show no discrimination on body type, race, ethnicity, or creed. Karl Lagerfeld's "Coco A Go-Go"

     “Why can’t designers make fashions that mimics the architecture of hips and busts and then choose models that wear it perfectly?”, asks burlesque star, Miss Dirty Martini, whom world renowned Karl Lagerfeld chose to shoot for V Magazines’ Issue 63 “The Size Issue”. We all question the same thing as we often see waif like models in the spring/fall fashion runway shows. V Magazine, known for “pushing the envelope”, chose to instead release an issue for plus size only. This article and photo shoot merely helps to entice and motivate the idea.

     Only three months ago, did we hear Karl Lagerfeld defending skinny models declaring, “No one wants to see round women.” So it was only fair to seemingly be shocked if not surprised that he willingly invited Miss Dirty Martini to be apart of the photo shoot off of 31 rue Cambon in Paris in Chanel’s atelier. “Posing on the Double C’s, modeling like my life depended on it, I thought, why not?” explained Martini on being shot by Lagerfeld.

     For the lingerie-themed shoot, Miss Martini wore no more than a chain belt, jewelry, purse, Chanel’s temporary fashion tattoos, sheer tights, and ruffly nipple covers better known as brooches refashioned as pasties….only a few items from Chanel’s collection. Pieces also worn by Miss Martini from notable designers include Chantal Thomas. Rigby and Peller, Commes des Garcons, and Dolce and Gabbana. She furthermore wears her own actual clothing such as her black bra and panties with flapper fringe. The editorial is entitled Coco A Go-Go”.

Laurie Lipton

I am totally engrossed and in awe amidst being appalled all in the same time at the artworks of Laurie Lipton. She embodies work that loves to make you think and creep you out all at the same time. Born in New York, she became the first person to graduate from Carnegie-Mellon University in Pennsylvania with a Fine Arts Degree in Drawing w/ honors. Since 1986, London has become her primary home. Her drawings are very much intriguing yet disturbing and abnormal based on content, and strongly resembles the likes of actual photographs.  One cannot help but glue their eyes to these exquisite pieces of artwork that Laurie Lipton has created.
